Trustee Hanson resigns for Cincinnati gig

HUNTLEY – Nick Hanson played a significant role in some of the biggest expansion projects that have transformed Huntley from a tiny farming community into a robust, major suburban municipality.

These included the widening of Route 47 through the village, construction of the I-90 interchange expansion, completion of the Talamore subdivision on the north side of the village, and the development of several commercial and industrial facilities along the I-90 corridor and along Dhamer and Freeman Roads.

Hanson, who was elected a village trustee in 2011, resigned his position recently to take a job in Cincinnati, village officials said. Hanson is in the construction management business, and Mayor Charles Sass reportedly said Henson provided valuable input as the village has been adding commercial developments and infrastructure.

Hanson’s four-year term is up for election next April. Sass has 60 days to appoint Hanson’s replacement on the six-member village board. The mayor reportedly said he is trying to appoint someone with some governing experience, since the board currently is working on the 2015 village budget. Sass added he wants to appoint someone to fill out the final few months of Hanson’s term, and not someone who plans to run for a full four-year term on the board in the April 7 municipal election.
