Our toxic bodies

By Norma Thompson

Dr. Don Colbert, M.D. in the introduction to his book Toxic Relief says, “Someone once told me that if our bodies were sold on the open meat market, they are so full of toxic poisons that they wouldn’t pass USDA inspection.”

Environmental Causes of a Toxic Body

There are over 60,000 chemicals in our food, air, and water. Processed foods are such a large category that we will discuss them separately. Some of the major concerns are the things we breathe as polluted air, some of which are auto exhaust, paint fumes, cigarette smoke, hair spray, and bug sprays. Another category are things we do directly to the body, such as vaccinations, flu shots, prescriptions, OTC medications, alcohol, showering, brushing our teeth with water containing chlorine, fluoride and other chemicals, all the things we put on our skin as soaps, lotions, sun screen protection, and medications.

Last but not least, stress makes for a toxic body as it kills the immune system.

We have organs that filter out toxins, but when they get clogged with too many poisons, they no longer function adequately. They are the liver (which is the largest detoxifier), kidneys, lungs, intestines, skin, the blood, and lymphatic systems.
