Shower door dilemnas

By The Woodchucks

Question: I own a 2004 Pulte Adler model home. The original shower stall track and sliding doors can no longer be effectively cleaned. I would like to replace the shower doors with the exact same shower door kit, brand, or model. I cannot find the brand name anywhere. Is the brand name somewhere on the track or sliding doors or do you know the brand? In the past I have found that replacing the track and doors is easier if I keep with the same brand, rather than to buy an off-brand from a big box store. Any suggestions?

Answer: Several of us discussed your problem and universally agreed that, unless you have been using it as a paint spray booth, it has to be easier to clean your shower doors and hardware than to replace them with new. If you aren’t able to clean them try hiring a professional cleaning crew.

As to the brand, there are many different configurations and brands used in Sun City so we really don’t have enough information to help.

Fixing faded address numbers

Question: I know that you just recently talked about this in your column in the Sun Day Newspaper, but somehow the paper was tossed in with the other recyclables before I could clip the column.

I have been a resident of Neighborhood 27 since November 13, 2004. The address on my home is fading and I need to replace the address numbers soon. I know there is someone in Sun City that has a supply of address numbers that I can contact (per your recent column). Would you please write back to me with that person’s name and contact information?

Answer: all past Ask the Woodchucks columns are available on the Sun Day web site, so there is no need to clip them.

There is good news and bad news on the house numbers you need. The bad news is that replacement numbers are only available through the company that supplied them to Del Webb originally; however they will only sell them by the case. The good news is that an enterprising Sun City resident has filled this gap by buying numbers from this company and selling them and even offering installation. His name is Richard and you can contact him at 224-210-6955.

If you have suggestions for future tips or have questions about maintenance around your home submit them to ask.the.woodchucks@gmail.com.
