With a mission of “keeping the community informed and connected,” what a better way than on a daily basis to provide news that is relevant to the listeners. The news team at Huntley Community Radio is on the beat everyday, brining you the best of local stories as they are happening, weather, traffic and sports, as well as what is happening in the community.

The best part of the HCR Evening News is how it has evolved in the past 1.5 years. Today, we have people contributing stories as they happen from all over the area. It is truly the people’s news.

In concert with our social media pages – Facebook and Twitter – we are able to bring the information that is relevant as it happens. For instance, we constantly receive traffic updates as they happen from people out on the road. Everyday, people send in relevant news stories to

make sure they are included in the news feed or breaking news. Many people contribute on a daily basis or on an occasional basis. A few Huntley Community Radio employees are regulars including Johnny B from The Huntley Community Radio Weather Center and Curtis from The Sports Desk. We even get occasional updates from our affiliate in

South Dakota who is tied into the CBS Television station out there.

What makes us unique are the Community Calendar events. Whether they are a fundraiser, an upcoming performance arts program, or an event at the local park district, we are there to bring you the details. Also, because of the negativity of the daily news based on what is happening all over the world with terrorism, politics, crime and murder, Huntley Community Radio’s most popular segment is called “Today’s Positive Story of the Day, Brought to You By Lil’ Momma”. Every day there is a positive story that is shared both on the newscast and on our Facebook page. We continually get stories for this segment from the listeners.

So if you are in your car or sitting at home at 6 p.m. from Monday to Friday, tune into 101.5 FM to get the most up-to-date news that is relevant in your community. We are helping keep our community “informed and connected.”
