Pet Safe Screen

By The Woodchucks

Question: I’m asking where to find pet resistant screen to repair my patio screen door because my puppy has jumped on it and made holes in the screening. The door is 8 feet tall and I have had a problem in searching for the screen. I have contacted TJ at A Touch of Glass and she has not returned my many calls nor did she respond to the question I left with her substitute at the Fall Expo as the woman said she would. So if you could help me I would be ever so grateful. I have found 7-foot screen but that’s a little short.

Answer: Ace Hardware has pet resistant screen. They can install it in your frame.

Question: We have tried to fix this decorative piece over our garage with no success. Now the rain is pouring under the decorative piece (don’t know what it is called and neither Home Depot or Menards seems to know the name nor how we can replace it). Now the board under this piece is getting soft and probably also needs to be replaced. Can you help? Or are you familiar with a handyman that has worked with this before?

Keystone Trim

Answer: I just went out and looked at two of my neighbor’s crosshead trim with a keystone. Some of these are made of rigid foam and some are made of wood. These parts are very easy to make by even the most novice handyman. I did notice while inspecting these that many of them are in need of paint. Anyone with one of these decorative trim pieces should look at it and if it is in need of paint get that done before the weather destroys it so that a new one will have to be made.

You missed by one week our community repair day where we invite twenty-four residents to sign up to come to the shop with their broken wood furniture and other items and we repair them. We do this for one day in April and one day in October. We could have repaired your keystone trim.
