Old’s Cool ready to jump-start summer at Trio Grille

By My Sunday News

The garden is in bloom, the robin chicks are out of the nest, and the Cubs and Sox are still winning — but you can’t really call it summer until Sun City’s favorite party and dance band, OLD’S COOL, hits the stage.

So mark Sunday, June 5, as the official start of summer, as Old’s Cool makes its first 2016 appearance at the Trio Grille (105 Franks Road) in Marengo, from 1-4 p.m.

OLD'S COOL

“This is our first time at the Trio Grille,” said band co-founder TR Kerth. “And it looks like a perfect match for us and our usual crowd. Plenty of room for dancing, great food, and lots of additional fun activities—like bowling. And since we’ll be playing close to the lanes, multitaskers can eat, dance and bowl at the same time!”

Sandy Lindow, Trio Grille’s official Ambassador of Fun, promises to please palates with her specials: roast chicken dinner and baked French onion soup.

Although OLD’S COOL will make other appearances in the area throughout the summer — including an August show at Sun City’s Fountain View Amphitheater, where they performed last summer to more than a thousand appreciative fans — the band is at their best in smaller venues, where their infectious humor and banter never fail to generate audience involvement and make the crowd feel like part of the show.

Band co-founder Hans Stucki agrees, and he thinks this first outing of the year will be one that fans won’t want to miss.

“Two of our band members are snowbirds,” Stucki says, “so we’ve been out of action since Halloween. But they’re back now, and our first show of the season is always filled with a lot of excitement, energy and laughs. And always a few surprises, as we break out some new tunes we’ve worked on during the off season.”

So if you’ve been waiting for summer to begin, Old’s Cool is ready to help you kick it off at the Trio Grille on June 5.
