SunCPAC Q’s & A’s: September 9, 2010

By My Sunday News

Q: As assessment notices are being sent at this time of year, how can a resident obtain a copy of their official township assessment card showing the data upon which the assessment is based?

A: Sun City Property Assessment Council [SunCPAC] advises that residents call their township assessor to request a copy of their home’s data card. Also, unofficial copies are available through online computer access. Links are available at SunCPAC’s website at www.suncpac.org

Q: How are the Model Reports on www.suncpac.org arranged to help evaluate the fairness of an assessment?

A: SunCPAC arranges the information by township and model type, with homes listed in descending order of assessed value. This will help residents find comparable properties to their own and learn if their assessment is higher or lower than others of the same model. For appeals, comparisons can only be between homes within the same township and of the same model.

Q: How can I get more information from SunCPAC?

A: Subscribe to suncpac_news@hotmail.com for monthly UPDATE bulletins and other topical articles.

Keep an eye open for more Q’s & A’s about property assessments and information in future editions of Sun Day.
