In Memoriam: James L. (Jim) Roberts

Jim Roberts, born March 12, 1941, passed peacefully at home on September 29, 2010, in Huntley, IL. Husband 47 years to Pamela; father to Suzanne (Steve) Cox and Kathleen Anne Roberts; Brother to William (Debbie) Roberts and Thomas (Jeannette) Roberts; Grandfather to Arthur, Brandon and Robin Cox; and Brother-in-law to James (Kay) Pung.

Jim’s lifelong commitment to Scouting began in the youth program, and then in 1964, he began his career in Professional Scouting until retirement in 2001.

During his Retirement to Sun City Huntley, he continued to contribute his many talents in the Community Association as a member, Chairman of the Finance Committee, and several years as a member and most recently the President of the Governing Board. He was also a member and Past-President of the Sun City Woodchucks Woodworking Club and a member of the Computer Club. His commitment to Scouting continued as the retiree representative to FSA National Compensation and Benefits Committee.

A member of Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock, IL since retirement, he participated in several important committees and task forces and also served as a Greeter, Usher and Deacon.

Visitation was on Saturday, October 2, 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 8, 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. in Drendel Ballroom, Prairie Lodge.

At the families request in lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions in his name to Grace Lutheran Church, 1300 Kishwaukee Valley Road, Woodstock, Il 60098 or The National Boy Scouts of America Foundation, 1325 W. Walnut Hill Lane, Irving, Texas 75015-2079.
