Kay volunteers at the library with her friend Joan, also from Sun City, two days each week in the Circulation Department. “Kay’s always happy and has a wonderful sense of humor. Her family calls her ‘the Queen Mum’ as she’s originally from England. She is our Queen Volunteer,” Marilyn Riordan, Circulation Manager shared.

Patrons at the library participated in singing Happy Birthday to Kay on her birthday, when she arrived for her Thursday morning volunteer shift.

When asked if she had any words of wisdom to share, Kay replied, “Take every day as it comes because you don’t know what it’s going to be.”

Huntley Library volunteer outreach coordinator Pamela Kampwerth shared, “Kay has been volunteering at the library since she turned 91. She always brings a smile to everyone with her enthusiasm and sense of humor.”

“I love coming here,” Kay shared with the staff while eating a piece of her birthday cake. “I look forward to this”.
