Dick Allen, N.3, has been a member of The New Tradition Chorus for the past six years. Allen is also a member of the Sun City Barbershop Quartet, The Sun Tones. Allen enjoyed singing throughout school, and was a member of his college’s glee club. He has also sung in church choirs on and off throughout his life.

“I like really good quality music. I felt glee club was the best music I would ever be a part of. This, [The New Tradition Chorus] is as good as or better,” Allen said.

It Allen’s voice that inadvertently led him to the group.

“A friend of mine, Pat Brady, stopped me, and said that I sounded like I used to sing, [that] I have a good voice,” Allen explained. “He said ‘how about you come to New Tradition?”

Allen quickly knew it was a perfect fit.

“When I heard them sing . . . it was absolutely fabulous, and I’ve been a part of them ever since,” said Allen.

The New Tradition Chorus is an all volunteer group, and is always looking for men of any age to join their ranks.

“Anybody can join the New Tradition. We love having new people who love to sing and like good music,” said Allen.

New Tradition will be performing music from “Les Miserables,” “Guys and Dolls,” “West Side Story,” and “George M. Cohan Tonight!” as well as plenty of fan favorites, like “Singing in the Rain,” and “Over the Rainbow.”

“It’s going to be a top quality show,” Allen said.
