If you can’t be an athlete, be an athletic supporter.

I am a member of the “world famous” Cutters baseball team. There is one group of people that deserves all the credit for making us “world famous,” and that group is our loyal fans.

Since the start of the season, their support has not diminished even to the point of handing out Cracker Jacks, peanuts, hot dogs, and chips during the seventh inning stretch. It’s fun to see the other bleachers straining to hear your hilarious cheers and to see you pushing around an invisible lawn mower.

You may not realize it, but you are well known in Del Webb. Being the catcher, I have had a chance to chat with the umpires while the opposing team is running around the bases, and without exception, they all remarked how great you are.

Thank you. It means a lot to us on the Cutters.

See you next year!

Catcher and “one hit wonder”

In the Frugal Forum (Sun Day, Sept. 12, 2012), Don Grady writes about the Debt Free America Act, H.R. 1125. He correctly states that the bill was introduced by Congressman Chaka Fattah in March (16,) 2011, and the purpose of the bill was to establish a fee on transactions which would eliminate the national debt and replace the income tax on individuals.

What Mr. Grady did not mention in his article was the fact that the bill died in committee. The bill has zero chance of being enacted. It failed to reach the floor when it was originally introduced as H.R. 4646 in the 111th Congress and stands even less chance of being introduced as H.R. 1125.

It might be helpful to research a topic before writing about it.
