Dear Mason,

I have for some time wanted to write this to your newspaper and finally am doing so before Veterans Day comes up and it will be too late for me to make this suggestion.

When we moved to Del Webb over 13 years ago, each home in our Neighborhood (N.2) received a full-size United States flag and the holder attached to our porch so that it can be displayed on days that are appropriate, or every day if anyone so wishes.

Del Webb probably supplied the flags and holders to many neighborhoods until they merged or sold out to Pulte Homes. Then I am not sure of what was done in this regard.

If you were to now drive through our neighborhood and many others in Del Webb, you will see a small number of flags flying on days such as Memorial Day, Flag Day, Labor Day, and coming up soon – Veteran’s Day. This is very disturbing to both my husband, Anthony, and myself that people are either forgetful, too lazy, or not patriotic enough to display a flag proudly in honor of this great country of ours.

We are in a situation now with the current administration taking away our freedoms and forcing policies on us that are against our ethical and moral beliefs, no matter what religion we profess. The residents of Sun City should at least fly their flags proudly, which hopefully will make some type of statement to those who do not.

Sincerely,

Sam Geati’s Dining out with Geezers article always provides interesting commentaries about “eating out” options.

Last week’s column did not include Sun City’s Jameson’s restaurant right here in our own Prairie Lodge.

My experience there has always been a good one. Tasty food with generous portions, excellent service, a pleasant environment, efficient service, and all at very reasonable prices,

In a nutshell…..a good deal!

Plus…patronizing that eatery is also a financial benefit to the community since revenues generated from its operation help pay our community operating costs.

Bon appetit to my neighbors!
