SUN CITY ā Prairie Lodgeās Fountain View Center, unveiled in 2012, has it all.
Soft chairs, comfortable couches, a big TV set, atrium-style ambiance, a fireplace, tables and chairs for socializing or meetings, the CAM desk to take care of business and activities, a great view out the back door, a huge multi-purpose activity space…but residents thought a few things had been lacking:
Coffee, soft drinks, and snacks.
The Sun City Board of Directors took care of this last issue on June 19. Two days later, Caffeination Station came to coffee drinkersā rescue with a state-of-the-art vending machine.
Six varieties of coffee and hot chocolate are now available in a small machine located next to the fireĀ¬place. Available are regular coffee, espresso, mochaccino, latte, cappuccino, and French vanilla coffee, plus hot chocolate.
āMeadow View Lodge has had vending machines for a while, and weāve been aware of a lot of resident interest in bringing them to Prairie Lodge,ā James van Fleet, board member, said.
Thereās more good news for those who want soft drinks and snacks. A soft-drink-snack machine has been ordered and is scheduled to be installed, association staffers said. It has not been determined exactly what products will be available in the second machine, or at what prices.
āThese machines are a service to residents because the association is not receiving any of the revenues,ā Van Fleet said when the board approved the contract.
A resident was overheard to say, āStarbucks, eat your heart out.”
