The real cause of heart disease

By Norma Thompson

Please consult your doctor or regular health physician before following suggestions found in any Sun Day health columns/stories.

Close to 75 million Americans suffer from heart disease. Many are taking the Band-Aid approach by having bypass surgery or stints put in. Over the years these can close. We need to take responsibility for our lifestyle.

Half of all people with cholesterol in the range of 220 to 260 have never had a heart attack. Yet half of all heart attacks occur in people with normal to low cholesterol. Doctors along with the pharmaceutical industry bamboozle the American public into believing that cholesterol needs to be lowered and a low-fat diet is necessary to prevent heart disease.

Along with the low fat diet, doctors are prescribing numerous blood-thinning drugs such as Coumadin. The danger here is internal bleeding. Doctors also tell patients not to eat certain healthy green vegetables because of their blood thinning properties which interfere with the drugs that are administered. Most patients are never told that there are natural foods which keep the blood from becoming too thick.

If lowering cholesterol is not the answer to what causes heart attacks and strokes, then what is? Bold physicians are blowing the whistle on the cholesterol myth. They say that infection and inflammation in the inner layer of blood vessels cause disruption of blood flow, potential clots, and resultant strokes and heart attacks. Heart surgeons have peered inside inflamed coronary arteries, which often look as if they have been sandpapered.

They liken inflammation of coronary arteries to rubbing a stiff brush over soft skin until it bleeds. When you keep doing this several times daily for years, the injuries are compounded and worsened as your body desperately tries to patch things up with plaque, which disrupts blood flow.

There are numerous reasons for heart and circulatory disease, one of which is consuming the wrong fats! More on this topic next week!
