What to eat for healthy fat loss

By Norma Thompson

Please consult your doctor or regular health physician before following suggestions found in any Sun Day health columns/stories.

And God said, ā€œSee, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food.ā€ Genesis 1:29

When we first started the series, I mentioned that man was forever dieting. When he got tired, he went back to his old ways. Man was made to eat real, whole foods with nothing added and nothing taken away. It was meant to be a lifestyle of healthy eating.

It was never intended that he should partake from packages and bottles with bar codes and a long list of ingredients with chemicals he couldnā€™t pronounce. Before I reveal all of the wonderful foods out there, letā€™s go over the items that put fat on the belly:

ā€¢ They include all the sugary foods like candies, pies, cakes, doughnuts, and especially high fructose corn syrup
ā€¢ Liquid carbohydrates as beer, diet and regular soda, flavored waters, orange juice, and other juices
ā€¢ Foods made from wheat flour and other grains including pasta, bread, and cereal
ā€¢ Corn, potatoes, and starchy vegetables (those with high glycemic index)
ā€¢ Oils and fats that are polyunsaturated (corn, soy, canola, cottonseed, safflower, and margarine), pasteurized milk
What kinds of food make up a healthy lifestyle? If we were to make a new pyramid, it would look something like this: (from Dr. Joseph Mercola and Gary Taubes)
ā€¢ Non-starchy vegetables (fresh and frozen) raw, with salads, or cooked
ā€¢ Healthy fats (coconut, palm, butter, flax, olive oils), nuts, seeds, and avocado
ā€¢ Fresh fruits (best are those that have the lowest amounts of natural sugar)
ā€¢ Meat (preferably without hormones or antibiotics), fish (wild rather than farm-raised), eggs, cheese, milk, and raw whey powder

When one eats right, as on this program, counting calories becomes unnecessary. Eat enough protein to satisfy. The more good fat the better, as long as one does not overeat on the carbohydrates. The fat gives satiety value and keeps one from getting hungry and wanting to nibble all the time. Fat does not make the body fat but carbohydrates do.

Hereā€™s to a healthier you!
