When Edwin Lezniakand his dog, Sammie, stepped out for their routine walk through Neighborhood 12, the two didn’t know there was a buzz of danger in the air. Soon afterward, the pair was in trouble; Sammie had been stung by a wasp and couldn’t continue walking the several blocks home.
“I had to lay Sammie down because I was afraid she was going to fall. She was really scared, and I was, too,” said Lezniak.
That’s when Janeen, a Good Samaritan resident of Neighborhood 15, came to the rescue.
According to Lezniak, Sammie was stranded near Janeen’s front lawn. Seeing that Sammie, a large Lab mix, was in pain, and that Lezniak had no way of transporting her, Janeen insisted on driving the two home, no questions asked.
While Leznaik said that he and Sammie are well known in their neighborhood, they had never met Janeen.
“Here she is going out of her way…and I wanted to publicly thank her,” said Lezniak, who only obtained Janeen’s first name.
Thanks to Janeen’s kindness, Lezniak reported that Sammie has fully recovered.
“She’s like a puppy today,” he said.
