For the third consecutive year, Sun City’s Stingrays Swim Club held their Charity Service Auction. With a St. Patrick’s Day theme, the social get-together was held on Saturday, March 12, at the home of Nick and Joanie Koplos. Nick once again served as the afternoon’s auctioneer. This year’s charity chosen by the swimmers was Huntley’s own Animal House Shelter located on Ernesti Road.

Many of the 35 guests in attendance donated and/or bought the varied services available. Some of the auctioned items, displaying the club’s versatility of talents and interests, consisted of piano and swim lessons, a candlelit home-cooked dinner, personalized thermal bags, a guided historical tour of the Lake Geneva area, pet watching, an income tax accounting service, and transportation to O’Hare Airport. A myriad of baked goods and other material items were also available for purchase throughout the auction. At the conclusion of the day’s festivities, a total of $685 was recorded. This amount will be divided evenly amongst the animals and the club. Four Stingrays’ personal checks totaling $160 will be added to the $343 (shared amount) to make a grand total of $503 to be donated to the animals!
