By Joanie Koplos

May 13 marked the Stingrays Swim Club’s 5th Annual Service Auction for Charity. This year’s party was once again hosted at the home of Nick (the gala’s auctioneer) and Joanie Koplos. The afternoon’s festivities raised a total of approximately $1300, which was shared equally between the club and this year’s two chosen charities:

1. Stardust Sanctuary of Hampshire (Laurie Kay’s rescue, refuge, and retreat for Northwest suburbs’ needy animals and

2. WHRY-LP, 101.5 FM (Huntley’s community radio station). Forty club members and their guests in attendance took part in donating or purchasing the auctioned items. This year’s services were as diversified as a Norwegian brunch, progressive dinner, members’ baked items, pet sitting, a Frank Lloyd Wright Tour and rides to O’Hare Airport, swim and piano lessons, and homemade doll clothes and fused heart pendant.
