As a concerned citizen from the Village of Huntley, I would like to make you aware of some of the many negative issues that will affect the building plan Mike Scala has proposed at the intersection of Route 47 and Mill Street.

My issue is with the topography. The property that was purchased by Mike Scala may be 17+ acres but it is not all flat and easily accessible to build on. There is a natural wetland area at the North end of the property. My neighbors (myself included) who have lived in the immediate area for over 50 years, say it is always wet. Sometimes more than others, but always wet. The plan Mike Scala developed includes a dramatic and extremely costly redirection of this natural water downhill into a pond in the middle of this apartment/townhouse/commercial building makes no sense. I question if he has considered safety plans, with open water 5’ deep? I feel Mr. Scala should provide a more realistic schematic of the actual landscaping plans he has. I would like to see the caliper of trees, etc. Currently he has 20 trees in the space provided for 8 houses.

Dear Editor,

I grew up in a house on the west side of St. Charles in the 60s and 70s. When my parents first built our nice, middle class home, we could see from our house, all the way to Randall Road. I now live in Huntley. Huntley’s cornfields and surrounding natural beauty, as well as its small town feel, remind me a lot of growing up in St. Charles.

Now, fast forward to 2018: Huntley, Algonquin, Elgin, South Elgin, Lake in the Hills, Carpentersville, Dundee, Pingree Grove, Hampshire, all make up my new community. Do you know we have not had our own state senator, at least since 1992, and quite possibly ever? De Witte and McConnaughay, from St. Charles. Why? Why have we always been represented by state senators from that same area of our district, year after year after year?

It is time for a change. It is time for us to have our own

representation from the heart of the district. We have a strong, intelligent, caring and extremely capable candidate from Algonquin, and I can’t wait for her to be our next state senator! Nancy lives in our community; her mom even lives in Sun City, and is one of our neighbors!

Nancy Zettler, a respected lawyer, advocate for our schools, a mom of two beautiful, college-age daughters. Nancy is smart, tough, approachable, in a word: fantastic. Please join me in voting for Nancy Zettler, as our next Illinois State Senator!
