Published data reports that the average age of Sun City Huntley residents is 74.
With that average age comes various muscular aches, pains, knee and hip replacements and on and on. Five independent physical therapy centers in Huntley, including services at Centegra [Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital], were quick to take advantage of the potential market to provide relief to patients and income for their bottom lines.
The Centegra Prairie Lodge location has provided wellness services on site for years. Being an astute competitor, Centegra, identifying the need and potential income source, established a mini Therapy service on the walking track in July 2018. That space proved to be inadequate to properly serve a potential market of approximately 9,000 aging Sun City residents.
Whether the search for more space in the Prairie Lodge was initiated by Centegra or CAM staff is unknown, but a decision was made in late 2018 to convert the Fitness Manager’s office space to a Centegra Physical Therapy facility.
That decision prompted a number of questions: Why should the community accommodate a business wanting to expand its operation at the expense of an established administrative arrangement? Were other vendors provided an opportunity to compete for the space if the space was going to become available? Is the space being used for its best use? Why not a hair salon for all residents? Or a transportation information center?. A reply to a Talk to Staff inquiry confirmed that costs to renovate the space were being shared by Centegra.
This issue was researched by checking all 2019 Board agendas and Minutes and talking with two Board members. It was learned that the Board, during two Executive sessions in late 2018, discussed the conversion. Records for 2018 were not available on the Web under Documents. The general discussion in 2018 regarding the conversion option was discussed in meeting #1 as reported by one of the Board members. It would appear that meeting#1 violated the CCRs criteria for allowable subjects at an Executive Board meeting. Meeting #2 discussed a CONTRACTURAL matter which the CCRs approve.
Considering the impact of expanded services, one wonders why the absence of any publicity or updates?

I understand the concern many have with some of President Trumps’ words and at the same time, my parents always taught me that actions speak louder than words. I for one, am very happy with the actions President Trump has taken to bring more jobs back to the US and cutting the unemployment rate so low. In fact, for minorities, the unemployment rate is lower than it has ever been and overall, it is lower than it has been in 50 years. The GDP in 2018 was 3.4% and over 3% so far in 2019. Homeownership is up and the stock market is making new highs on a regular basis. He is working hard to secure our boarders even though he has little to no support from Congress and at the same time he has worked to reform our prison. President Trump has taken steps to ensure our military is getting the resources they need to stay strong in defending our country. ISIS is all but gone under his presidency.
Sometimes, it takes something, or someone very different to shake us out of the status quo and in my opinion, that is exactly what President Trump is – someone very different. He does not march to the same political drum or follow the same paths of his predecessors. Sometimes, we don’t understand we need that shake up until long after it occurs; remember President Regan or President Lincoln?
Funny that the only folks I hear spewing hateful speech are those who are spewing hateful speech against President Trump and those who support him. They call themselves ’the resistance.’ Although I know many, many people who stand with our president, I don’t hear derogatory or racist comments from them. On the contrary, they are very happy people who are secure in their knowledge that the USA is getting to a place where their children and grandchildren will have better opportunities than they have. Therefore, I too will continue to stand with President Trump. God bless him and the USA.
