Hang Your Hat: July 2, 2020

By My Sunday News

I am a Sun City resident who also lives in Kane County, Rutland Township. My home is 2450 square feet which is considered to be one of the larger homes. This is in response to a recent Hang Your Hat letter which stated that the smaller homes received a increase in property tax while the larger received a decrease. Not true. I received an increase of $254.00 as I’m sure is in line with other like homes. Sincerely,

I was appalled at the lack of integrity on many recent letter submissions revolving overwhelming praise for Gov Pritzker.

The praise is offensive enough when you look at his records and economic state of affairs in IL, let alone the politicking of Covid19 shutting the state down but easing all quarantined measures for protestors. That shoots his credibility down the drain.

But to actually print a letter stating “our president who spews hate and has caused the death of over 100,000 innocent Americans of all ages, creeds and faiths because of his inaction and lies”….is outright offensive propaganda whether you like Trump or not. You allow printing of that without any facts or proof? Seriously? Those accusations are clearly over the line and irresponsible without facts to back up.

Where is the integrity?…..

Sincerely,

The suggestion to cancel from the Sun Day newspaper mailing list the writer of the negative letter is a typical liberal tactic seen all too often these days. All voices should be heard, even ones we disagree with.

I agree with John Mayerhofr (Sun Day, Vol: 11 Number 12,) but, I highly recommend that he appeal the next property assessment with the assessor: ie: Fritz, and then to Mark Armstrong.

However, for those tax readers who really care, in reviewing the Board Brief of 12/19/19 Levy hearing, it said “homeowner with a $300 home will see an approximate $87 increase in their property taxes for the school district”. Sound good! Okay, let’s look at the Kane and McHenry property taxes, specifically Huntley Sch D-158, and look at your “Fair Cash Value” on your tax bill.

Divide your Fair Cash Value by $300 and multiple it result by $87….Is the Huntley Sch D-158, for 2019 taxes equal or less of $87 more than the 2018 taxes… if not, something is wrong.(by the way, I was advised by Mr. Altmayer that my math was correct).

Those taxpayer who has frozen property taxes and also those VA has no taxes,… could care less, however those who do care, I hope and recommend to send a letter or e-mail to D-158 to all Board members regarding this, and copy it with Mr. Scott Rowe, Superintendent.

Thank you.
