Players medal at pickleball tourney

By Jennifer Galloway

The Sun City Huntley Pickleball tournaments were held September 7, 8, and 9.  Except for a two-hour weather delay, all ran smoothly thanks to the exceptional organizational skills of Jan and Dan Robinson, their daughter Sarah, and assistant organizers Rob Brow and Phil Haugens. A small army of pickleball volunteers assisted with wrist band application, monitoring, line calls, and score running. Dana Rich’s snack and drink table was well stocked and very much appreciated!

Pete Karambelas, our 98 years young Poster Boy, participated as a 3.0 level player with Bobby Brown. While they didn’t win Gold, Silver or Bronze medals, Pete is proof that we can stay in shape and play this wildly popular sport at any age! He was given his own gold medal to show him how much we admire and appreciate him. He is an inspiration to the other 526 pickleball club members.

25 teams entered the Women’s tournament. 37 teams entered the Men’s tournament. 37 teams entered the Mixed Doubles tournament. That adds up to 99 amazing teams.
