HAPL Holiday Basket Fundraiser going on now

By Michelle Moreno

HUNTLEY — This year’s annual “Holiday Basket Raffle” has been announced by the Huntley Area Public Library (HAPL) Friends Foundation, which will be running from Nov. 17 through Dec. 14.

The Foundation has carefully curated baskets that include an enticing assortment of items, ensuring there is something for everyone, according to a press release statement.

With this year’s event promising to be the most exciting one yet, some of the highlights of the 2023 Holiday Baskets include:

A $200 cash basket, a travel basket completed with Airpods and travel accessories, lottery tickets, a necklace from Patrick Michael Jewelers, dining out coupons to local restaurants, grocery store coupons, gas gift cards, a Bluey basket for younger children, and Minecraft Lego sets.

The raffle features 16 total baskets that aim to not only spread holiday cheer but also raise funds in support of the Friends Foundation’s mission to enhance library services. All proceeds from the event will contribute to the Friends Foundation’s ambitious goal of raising $1 million for the HAPL.

“We are excited to present an incredible array of items in our 2023 Holiday Basket Raffel. Each basket is a treasure trove of delights generously provided by members of the Friends Foundation, local businesses, and sponsors,” said the HAPL’s liaison to the Friends Foundation Pamela Kampwerth. “By participating in the raffle, community members not only stand a chance to win fantastic holiday baskets but also play a crucial role in helping us achieve our fundraising goal to support the Huntley Area Public Library.”

Kampwerth added that all the raffle baskets are decorated with ribbons that feature gnomes or include a gnome in support of the library’s Winter Reading Challenge—Everyone Read! Gnome Matter Who You Are. The reading challenge takes place from Dec. 1 to Jan. 31.

The baskets are currently on display at the HAPL. Tickets for the 2023 Holiday Basket Raffle can be purchased at the library’s Information Desk starting Nov. 17, or online at huntleylibraryfriends.org. The Foundation is encouraging early participation to ensure a chance at taking one of these baskets home while also contributing to the success of the library.
