One of the most magnificent features of our community’s landscape is the fountain in the lake adjacent to the lodge. My husband and I just love seeing it as we drive up Del Webb Boulevard. It is beautiful at any time of day. What can you tell us about it? Has it always been a feature of Sun City?

you are referring to the fountain in Fountain View Lake, initially installed in 1998! From the early days of Sun City that same fountain has been welcoming residents and guests to our community. The fountain is primarily decorative, but it does also provide added aeration to the lake’s water.
The fountain was manufactured by Hall Fountains, Inc. in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. This style floatation fountain consists of several individual polypropylene sections joined together with a stainless steel frame. Floating fountains, rather than fixed fountains, are the only practical answer where a variable water level exists. These polypropylene sections of our fountain, as well as the frame, are original; however, the two 25 HP electric pumps, valves, gaskets, etc., and the twenty 120-watt LED lights have routinely been replaced.
To prevent cold weather and ice damage, the entire unit is removed and stored in the adjacent parking lot every fall. Then, after a tune-up, it is placed back in position each spring.
We all love seeing the sparkling 30-foot center display surrounded by over 14 smaller spouts circling the fountain’s main display. Enjoy it before it is removed for the winter next month.
