The Prairie Voices celebrate 10 year anniversary with concert

By Linda Hersch

The Prairie Voices will celebrate their 10th anniversary with a special concert on Monday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. in the Drendel Ballroom. This ensemble of accomplished singers gave their first performance on Aug. 25, 2004, on the same stage. The original group of 12 singers has grown over the years to 23 members.

The Prairie Voices are the “traveling ambassadors” of the Prairie Singers, Sun City’s larger chorus. They are dedicated to bringing the gift of music to audiences at various venues including community events, assisted living facilities and nursing homes.

The 10th Anniversary Concert program will include several selections originally performed at their debut 10 years ago. Additionally, they have chosen a variety of audience favorites including “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “What a Wonderful World” and a lively medley from “Chicago.” A sing-along with the audience will top off the evening.

TIckets can be purchased in advance at the Member Services desk in either Prairie Lodge or Meadow View Lodge in Sun City. Cost is $6 for residents and $11 for non-residents. Cost is extra on the day of the event. Call 847-515-7560 to reserve tickets.
