More foods to avoid

Eggs (Commercial)

Nutritious eggs, free of disease, are probably the most difficult to buy. One reason is all the terms on the cartons. Some of these are organic, cage free, free range, omega 3s, etc. What we want to avoid are buying eggs that come from caged chickens. While ones bought in grocery stores at lower prices can be poor quality, it is not always the case. They should be ā€œfree rangeā€. Buy from a farmerā€™s market, farmer, or health food store.

Protein Powders

Over 90 percent of protein powders on the market are harmful, many of which are on the shelves of health food stores, sports stores, or sold in fitness centers. These are the stores we generally trust to have healthy foods. Here is the key: read the ingredients! Here are some ingredients that raise the red flag: artificial sweeteners (aspartame, saccharine, sucralose), sweeteners as sugar or high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors, and isolated denatured proteins (soy and whey).

Unpasteurized milk (this is tricky as the label will not say raw milk)

When you buy, be sure you know it is made from the finest cold pressed, pasture fed cows.

Pasteurized milk

According to dietary guidelines led by our government, adults still need two or three glasses of milk per day. When it is pasteurized, however, it becomes a dead food because it is heated to high temperatures. The heating process destroys natural enzymes, vitamins, minerals (including calcium which is the reason we drink milk), and beneficial bacteria. It transforms proteins into unnatural amino acid configurations that are harmful to your health. It is a major cause of all allergies.

There are many more things we could talk about such as protein bars, sports drinks, soft drinks and snack foods. The important thing is that you read the ingredients and decide whether to buy based on what you read! Will all of these items build health or make for a toxic body?
