The Village of Huntley Senior Transportation Voucher Program now makes it possible for seniors aged 55 and over to obtain rides within the Village of Huntley for just $2.
It was nighttime, and the young boy was home alone, his parents working at their delicatessen. What else was there to do but get into a little trouble? Out of the closet came his BB gun, and from the safety of his second-story bedroom, he drew a bead on the streetlight outside the Chicago bungalow where he lived. A carefully placed shot … a satisfying “ping” as the glass shattered … and out it went!

Residents who are interested in giving back to the greater Elgin and Fox Valley community are invited to attend the first annual Volunteer Fair at Creekside Lodge on Saturday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 12. p.m. At this event, more than 20 different locally based organizations will have representatives and information on hand about the types of services they provide, hoping to attract new volunteers.

When the snow is falling and chilly winds blow, there’s nothing like curling up with a good book to stir your inner warmth. From the time we opened our very first books, many of us began a love of reading that transported us to wondrous worlds of knowledge, entertainment, and adventure.
On the third Wednesday of every month, a team of about 20 Edgewater volunteers gather at Creekside Lodge, carpool to a warehouse in Aurora, and fill shipping boxes with life-sustaining food products destined for some of the world’s neediest recipients.

Take one step into the craft room at Creekside Lodge, and you’ll feel like singing “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!” That’s because the artistic folks of Paint Drops are busy creating festive masterpieces that are sure to brighten anyone’s holiday season.
The lights in the room are dimmed, and conversation ceases as soft, relaxing music begins to play. The students of Yoga From The Heart instructor Nancy May settle on their exercise mats, center their thoughts, and adopt an attitude of serenity as they enact a transformative practice that originated some 5,000 years ago.
Whether it’s “Allemande Left,” the “Star Promenade,” the “Teacup Chain,” or “Relay the Ducey,” members of The Edgewater Squares kick up their heels each Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at Creekside Lodge under the direction of instructor Gene Warrington, who’s been choreographing and calling for square dancers for over 30 years.
