Who makes the best pies in Huntley?
Right now, the answer is Jeanne Bruntyn, a resident of Neighborhood 33 in Sun City.
After a lifetime of baking for her friends, family, and just because she wanted to, Jeanne baked a Morello cherry pie and submitted it to the Huntley Farmers Market pie bake off earlier this fall. On her first try at pie-baking competition, Jeanne won first prize in the fruit pie category.
America’s Coast Guard has been asked to do many things in its 228-year history, but there is one thing they probably do better than anyone else.

Grant Jahr, President of Sun City CyclePaths Bike Club, takes his passion for bicycles with him everywhere.

Sun City Neighborhood 28 continues to “give back” to the community with recent fundraisers. An October food drive raised over $1830 and 18 bags/boxes of food items for the Grafton Township Food Pantry.

In 1963, the now defunct American Can Company (Barrington, IL) hired Slomski, as a Development Engineer in their Research and Development Department, and quickly put him to work on a problem they were having a hard time solving.

The Sun City Theatre Company proudly presents “South Pacific,” coming to the Drendel Ballroom for performances November 15-18. The musical, scored by iconic singer/songwriter duo Rodgers and Hammerstein, is based on a collection of Pulitzer Prize-winning short stories by author James Michener. The musical premiered on Broadway in 1949, and has remained a beloved musical ever since, followed by a Hollywood release film in 1958 and many of the songs, such as “Some Enchanted Evening,” “There is Nothing Like a Dame,” and “I’m Gonna Wash that Man Right Outa My Hair” earning their place as popular standards still played today.

The Jennifer Lupo theft case in Sun City is nearly three years old. On October 11, it got three months older.

Addie and Mike Metoyer’s home is decorated for the Halloween season from top to bottom.

County staff has presented a 2019 budget and levy for McHenry County that not only further reduces the cost of government, but also returns money back to the taxpayers.
Two Sun City Stingray Swim Club members recently wrapped up their 2018 Senior Games season by participating in the Wisconsin State Senior Swim Olympics. Mark Schark led the charge by winning gold medals for all 6 of his events.
Tall Oaks Tennis Club (TOTC) celebrated a successful tennis season at the team banquet held at the Randall Oaks Golf Club. The guests arrived not in tennis clothes but in Mardi Gras attire. Guests showed up with feathered, elegant, Mardi Gras masks. There was a Mardi Gras King in costume, cape and all. And what Mardi Gras party would be complete without the Jester.

A fire destroyed a Sun City townhome on September 4, and its effect will probably be felt by residents of Neighborhood 8 for many months to come. The blaze, which neighbors and witnesses reportedly said was accompanied by sounds like explosions, occurred in a six-pack cluster of townhomes in the 13400 block of Michigan Avenue, in Neighborhood 8.

Her husband Roger became interested in the activity and so it began. “I started working with Roger on the New York Time’s Monday puzzle. Monday’s version is the easiest and they get harder each day and Sunday’s puzzle is huge,” said Kathy. Soon, however, the couple would do more than solving the puzzles.
