New healthcare center to provide services despite patient’s ability to pay

Greater Elgin Family Care Center has begun construction of the McHenry Community Health Center at 3901 Mercy Drive in McHenry. Construction began on March 31.

A church campus from Carillon in Plainfield will have Sunday services at Meadowview Lodge in Sun City and hopes to get into the renovated sales center as soon as it is ready. Without a hint to our Community in their months of negotiation, the Sun City Board has signed a contract with the church for the first 3 months.

Over the hill(s)

Before Nick and I married, my husband issued me an unwritten pre-nuptial statement which would allow him to ski where and whenever he desired throughout our wedded years. Having met each other in a Chicagoland ski club, where Nick was presiding president, this did not seem to be an unusual request from him at the time. What I didn’t know then, however, was the fact that Nick would become a certified ski instructor, would ski tough Canadian glaciers, and would very successfully teach all of our three children, as well as his wife, to love skiing. What I didn’t know then, either, was that both Nick and I would still be skiing into our senior years.

Didius tied the straps of his sandals as he prepared to report for duty. He moved slowly and hung his head in spite of the beautiful spring morning. His wife Panthia watched him from the other room. She could no longer contain her concern.

Given only a 35% chance of survival, Pat and his family consulted all the leading specialists. When they finally performed surgery, Pat’s tumor was the size of a cantaloupe.

A tale of two … churches

Spring is in the air. Flowers are blooming. Birds are singing, and two new churches are coming to the Sun City and Huntley area. Willow Creek Huntley will be based at the Huntley High School, and the Community Christian Church will be based in the Oak/Elm Room of the Meadow View Lodge in Sun City.

Take fitness sitting down

Sun City is an extremely active community, especially when it comes to fitness. But there’s a lot of people who don’t or are unable to exercise but wish they could.

Soon after the death of Millie Elgor, a dear friend of mine for many years, I found myself in a rather uncomfortable position. Millie’s sister, Georgia, called me to ask if I would be able to fly to Red Hook, New York, where Millie owned a small cottage. Georgia and the rest of her close-knit family knew of our trusting and loyal friendship since the early days of our youth. They themselves could not bear the task of going through her personal belongings.
