MY SUN DAY NEWS
You might spend a lifetime trying to get it right, and go to your grave knowing that you’ve fallen short. Or you might nail it when you’re still just a kid, and not know until much, much later in life that it’s the best you’ll ever do.

It’s easy to turn on Huntley Community Radio on 101.5 FM and listen to some informative programs or music. Just as Alexa.
This is all brought to you by a dedicated all-volunteer professional staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Jim Eggers, Executive Director, describes Huntley Community Radio (HCR), believes HCR has blossomed over its journey.
I highly recommend this film. I think most of you will find it entertaining, as well as exciting. Be warned however, you will pay twice to see this one. First, of course, at the box office, and secondly sitting through twenty seven minutes (count em) of previews of upcoming children’s movies, all animated and all terrible.
Throughout the winter and early spring, my husband and I have been spending a portion of our morning at the local gym. We drop off our son at school and then head into town to spend an hour doing something good for ourselves. There is a group of local residents that are all at the gym about the same time each day. Our conversations the past few months have revolved around the health of relatives, company visiting, the daily news cycle, and of course, the weather.
It was my birthday recently, and to my surprise, one Saturday morning Nancy suggested we check out Bentley’s. Since the starting price of this car is $170,000.00, I was ecstatic and confused. Did the government raise our Social Security? Did a rich uncle in Zimbabwe die?? Did we get a raise from My Sun Day News??? My dreams were shattered when she drove me to Bentley’s Pancake House in Bloomingdale.
What exactly is a pain rehabilitation center? When all else fails in the treatment of chronic pain, the rehab becomes a “go to location” to try to stop the downward spiraling of a life filled with pain’s destructive cycles impeding the quality of living.
In the last issue we solved a whistling noise caused by a toilet valve failure. Two readers emailed me with a completely different whistling water noise problem that they solved.
Twelve days from now, on April 2, residents of the Huntley Library District will decide if they will support a proposal for a $12.9 million expansion of the Huntley Public Library.
When I was a teenager, my house was the “party house” or “hang-out house.” My house was the place everyone converged nearly every night of the week. In fact, it wasn’t uncommon for my friends to be there, in my basement, which was where we hung out, without me even being home. I’d wake up sometimes and find people in my basement. I’d come home from work and find people in my basement. I’d be having dinner with my family in our dining room, hear the side door open, and footsteps racing downstairs…several sets of footsteps. It was constant and not un-enjoyable.
Audience members will be transported to Transylvania Heights to see the hilariously ill-fated tale of Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (or is it FRONK-en-shteen?), grandson to the late Dr. Victor von Frankenstein. The New York doctor is hesitant to admit he is even related to his feared and evil grandfather, until he finds out he has inherited his grandfather’s castle.
Batavia Homestead resident Fran Wickman is someone you should know. Why? According to Sun City resident F. Schrauth, who is related to Wickman (his daughter married her son), Wickman recently took up a new hobby – mountain climbing.

I can’t decide if it’s a miracle I became a writer, or if I was destined to become one. After all, I had plenty of practice when I was a kid growing up in Elmwood Park and had to go home after school at John Mills Grammar School to write 500 times on sheets of lined paper: “I promise I will never throw snowballs on the playground ever again.”

Mayo Clinic’s Health Letter from February explains that “Memories of past painful experiences can influence your current experiences.” For example, a strong remembrance of past pain at your dentist office does not help any new pain threshold about to be realized there. Mayo continues, “And pain itself can predispose you to more pain.”

In Illinois, there are 10,798 people homeless on a given night; 8.4 homeless per 10,000 people in the general population. Half of the homeless population is outside of Chicago; nearly one thousand in the Western suburbs of Kane, McHenry Aurora, and Elgin. Jordan Debbink, the Special Events & Volunteer Coordinator at the Pioneer Center is trying to make a dent in that number.

While Sun City might not dye its Meadow Lake green, it does have a St. Patrick’s Day celebration of its own. Every year, Sun City’s Celtic Club hosts a dinner party, and this will be its 19th one.
I have a question concerning water pipe noise that you might be able to help me with. Whenever I run water in the house and then turn it off, I hear a high-pitched tone that goes on for about 5 seconds before going away.
I dug deep, did tons of research, called around, and finally determined that the five people who were involved in writing and creating this story were all in some sort of hallucinatory state as they put this together. What other answer could there be for the mind-bending trip this movie leads you on?
Sun City’s 20th anniversary year is starting up, with the first major event of the celebration on Friday, April 12.
Jim recently retired and closed the doors of his business. One of his long time clients gave him a $100 gift certificate to Bold American Fare in Algonquin as his retirement present. Since we review 25 restaurants a year, we rarely get to go back to the same restaurant twice. Another reason for not going back is that after reading our reviews, they won’t let us back in!!! As a result, we were determined to use up the $100 in one sitting, no matter what it took.
For this week’s article, we are talking with Marissa Stublerthe Membership and Marketing Manager for Illinois Landscape Contractors Association (ILCA). Marissa, thanks so much for being available to answer a few questions for our readers!
Now that college basketball’s final four is upon us again, let us pause and think about the greatest dynasty in sports history. Let’s remember someone who not only built the first great dynasty but who defined what a dynasty is. Who is this person? He’s the Wizard of Westwood, the Establishment coach in a time of anti-Establishment dominance.

What do drones have to do with Sun City? Board of Directors conversations have been livened up recently with dialog on controlling and regulating drones that are possibly or actually flying over the community.

It’s no secret that getting up early is supposed to be more helpful if you want to get things done. As an early riser myself, I can vouch that this is true. Even as a young kid, I never wanted to sleep in. In fact, I had was the opposite problem. Every morning when I was little, my mom would leave a note taped to my bedroom door telling me what time I was allowed to get up and leave my room. Usually, she illustrated the note, often featuring a smiling sun with specific times like “6:30” or “7:15” drawn next to it.
“We are just dog people,” Red Linder said. Linder, along with co-owner Cat Gyiraszin, opened The Barking Lot Indoor Dog Park & Daycare in Huntley last December, and many Sun City residents have taken advantage of the new facility.
Someone once said to me, “Everybody, every day, does the very best they can do.” At first I couldn’t agree, because the world is filled with slackers, malingerers and lazy louts who are just getting by. You’ve seen them, right?

“Our group meets weekly, but more importantly we don’t close for Black Friday, Thanksgiving, or any holidays. Those are the days that support is needed more,” Sharon Stevens offers. Stevens moved to Sun City after the death of her husband. “My grief was delayed. I moved to be near my daughter and Grandchildren and then I found out my daughter had cancer. I became so involved with caring for her and the grandchildren, that I did not get a chance to grieve.”

Chronic pain, contrary to the acute form, is pain that, despite some fluctuation in intensity, doesn’t go away with time. Mayo Clinic Health Letter explains, “It (chronic pain) can affect a specific area, such as with back pain, headaches or facial pain, or it can be more widespread, such as with fibromyalgia — a disorder that causes pain throughout the body.”
I remember reading in your column about replacing the switch that controls the front porch and garage lights that includes the flashing in case of emergency. Can you tell me what to get for a replacement for this switch?
