Huntley PD investigate Sun City burglary leads

By Mason Souza

SUN CITY – Huntley police are investigating a burglary that took place on Wednesday, May 18 in the 12,000 block of Stonewater Crossing. There are no known suspects, but the police are investigating leads.

The offenders pried open the front door and stole approximately $60 in cash. An amount of jewelry, whose value has not been determined, was also stolen.

The victims reported being out of the home from 11:50 a.m. to 5 p.m. and it is believed the burglary took place within that time period.

Deputy Chief Todd Fulton of the Huntley Police Department was not certain if the burglary was connected to a recent attempted burglary in another area of Sun City.

“The entire town of Huntley is a very safe community,” Fulton said. “We have a very low crime rate so this isn’t really common anywhere in town, especially in Sun City.”

Fulton reminded residents to secure their possessions by keeping home and car doors locked.

“I would suggest taking valuables out of cars, locking things and be vigilant,” he said. “Watch out for your neighbors.”

Fulton added the importance of being alert and aware and urged residents to call the police if they see anything suspicious.
