A floral fantasy

Raffle

Photo Provided

The Sun City Sunflower Garden Club is conducting a raffle for a quilt created by a talented group of members. A Floral Fantasy by the Garden Quilters will be a drawing prize for the Holiday House Walk on December 17. Women met in January to decide on a size and pattern and shared strips from each individual “stash.” Everyone played an important role by creating several blocks, which were pieced together and placed in rows. It was professionally quilted and is 100 percent cotton.
Some of the proceeds will cover the cost of the Holiday House Walk Quilt for 2014, and the rest of the money will be given by the club as a charitable donation, to be decided at a later date.
Tickets will be sold on Nov. 14 at both Prairie Lodge and Meadow View, as well as on Dec. 17 at Fountain View during the hours of the Holiday House Walk. Tickets are one/$1 and six/$5.
Please contact Cheryl Johnson to purchase tickets any other time. She can be reached at 224-569-4182.

Neighborhood 23 annual picnic
A fun-filled time was had by 79 residents of Sun City’s Neighborhood 23 at their annual picnic. They spent the first beautiful day of autumn at the Fountain View Pavilion enjoying an abundance of delicious food and great camaraderie. Twenty generous door prizes were supplied by local businesses. There were eight 50/50 winners. Three people were grand prize winners. Everyone enjoyed the dinner music supplied by Art Fitzgerald and the “Oldies But Goodies” sing along he conducted after dinner. Neighborhood 23 is an active, friendly neighborhood with people who enjoy having a good time.
