Huntley police blotter reveals common Huntley crimes

By Dwight Esau

On June 7, the Huntley Police Department conducted 21 underage liquor compliance checks at all of the licensed liquor establishments in the village.

Eighteen of the establishments passed the checks by refusing to sell liquor to the underage participant. One of these establishments is Jameson’s Restaurant and Pub, located in Prairie Lodge.

Police said three establishments failed these checks and were issued liquor license violations. These were listed as Best Price Tobacco and Gifts, 11717 E. Main Street; Pinecrest Golf Club, 11220 Algonquin Road; and Lucky Bernie’s, 9810 Illinois Route 47. One employee at each of these locations was charged with sale of alcohol to a minor. They will appear in McHenry County court in Woodstock on July 9.

In other criminal activity reports involving or occurring in Sun City:

On June 2, a Sun City maintenance worker reported damage at the cold storage facility (commonly called the pole barn), in the 13000 block of Del Webb Boulevard. Police said the siding was pulled open at the southeast corner of the building, leaving an 18-inch-wide hole.

“Items directly adjacent to the opening were undisturbed, leading to the belief that entry had not been gained to the building,” the report said. There was no information regarding whether any items were missing from the building.

Huntley police blotter reports (listings of individuals arrested or charged with a crime), reveal that less than 10% of such incidents involve, or occur in, Sun City. Most incidents in the community, police say, involve actual or attempted scams of residents and theft.

Recent Huntley blotter reports have included a credit card fraud report in which unknown persons opened a credit card account with the victim’s name and identifiers and charged purchases to the account, the theft of jewelry from a home, an identity theft report in which the victim stated he received an email he thought was from his bank, and the victim responded to the email with personal information and the information was used to withdraw funds from his bank account, and a pair of theft reports in which items were stolen from the yards at homes.

  • First of all I want to say superb blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts before writing. I have had trouble clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out there. I truly do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or tips? Thanks!
