The Stanley Cup of cars

By Christine Such

Bob Ruckoldt confirms that there are actual winners in those contests you see on Facebook.

His sister-in-law, Charmaine Ruckoldt, won the 2018 Chicago Blackhawks Custom Camaro Convertible with a 455 Hp V8 Engine. Charmaine tells the secret of success.

“My daughter enters and wins contests all the time and calls me to enter them also. That’s what happened on this one. It was on Facebook and I entered and won,” he said.

“This was the ninth year,” Charmaine said. “The NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks teamed up with local Chicagoland Chevy dealerships to build a one-of-a-kind Camaro to giveaway to a lucky Blackhawks fan.”

Charmaine was that lucky fan this year.

“The car was featured in the Chicago Auto Show this year in February,” she said.

“I got a phone call telling me that I won with some information to return the call. But I didn’t, I thought it was something like you have won the chance to win so I ignored the call.” Charmaine said.

But Charmaine didn’t ignore the email that came.

“I got an email congratulating me and I looked up the individual on the internet and found her on a WGN interview, so I decided to follow-up. And I actually won the car,” said Charmaine.

The winnings also included four VIP passes to the Blackhawks Convention.

“It was a private meet and greet. Most of the current players were there and some of the past players. We got pictures and I got the ceramic drink coasters in the car autographed by Taze and Kane,” she said.

In her excitement, Charmaine thought she had better brush up on her stick shift skills.

“I haven’t driven a stick shift for over 30 years. A friend who has a Mini Cooper offered to help me and I went for some test drives. I did good, but I found out that the 8 speed was an automatic. I could have driven the car home from the convention but chose not to drive in from Chicago at night so I picked it up at a dealership in Tinley Park. It’s a convertible and we got a lot of looks and honks as we drove the car home.”

Bob is also impressed with the vehicle.

“It’s just a beautiful car, the grill lights up with the Chicago Skyline and there is so much beautiful detail work that you keep seeing,” Bob said.

“Unfortunately, as beautiful as the car is, I am looking for a buyer,” Charmaine said. “It’s not practical for me to keep it. Bob stores it in his garage.”

Anyone interested in purchasing the car can contact Charmaine at 815-451-5476.
