Walking through happiness after COVID

By Christine Such

The Sunflower Garden held its Annual Garden Walk on July 10. The walk-through free event was open to Sun City residents and the public. On Saturday, nine residents opened the pathways to walk through their carefully designed landscapes.

Darlene Rutledge said, ā€œI want everyone to walk through and experience the garden rather than pass it by.”

Rutledgeā€™s garden design includes a carefully composed garden that is filled with annuals, fragrant plants close to the path, and tight mounds of open flowers. Rutledge gives credit to another Sun City resident.

ā€œJean Christie helped me design the landscaping around my home. I am just trying to keep in pruned and keep the rabbits from eating them,ā€ she said.

The nine gardens showed some great options. Visitors enjoyed a dazzling view with a flower bed full of vibrant color.
