Holiday shows strut back into Sun City

By Christine Such

Tis the season for holiday events and activities, and this year, they are back. Two Sun City Charter Clubs, the Strutters and Prairie Singers, are getting ready to entertain residents and guests with their talents for the holiday season. Mark the date, December 14, and enjoy the performance and an open bar. There will be two performances, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Bonnie Mascari said, “We have been dancing since 2003, and most of us have been with the group since then. It is a great form of fitness and exercise and camaraderie. We do have a Christmas Show planned for December 14 in Drendel Ballroom. The Strutters have always had performance each spring and every other Christmas season, except for the last year and a half when they were sidelined by Covid.”

The performance will include holiday songs and musical dance routines in ballet, tap, and jazz. The clubs invite you to come and enjoy their holiday gift to Sun City.

Mascari said, The Strutters will be dancing to familiar tunes: Santa Clause Boogie, Jingle Bell Hustle, Sleigh Ride, Mary Did you Know, and Rockin Little Christmas.”

The event will also feature a soloist who will be singing “Breath of Heaven.”

Mascari said, “We would like to invite all Sun City residents, including men to consider joining Strutters. Classes are currently part of the Sun City Fitness Program and our offerings can be found on the Sun City Web Site or contact

Nancy Kutska our Business Manager, at 847-659-9403 or nancykutska@gmail.com.”

Tickets can be bought at the lodge for the two performances. The cost is $7 per ticket. There is also a cash bar. The event is identified as Christmas Joy, Event Number FSE247 in Lifestyles.
