Pub 47 new management hosts special event for SC residents

By Christine Such

SUN CITY – Sean Hand, the managing partner of Pub 47, sent a resident appreciation invite to Sun City for an event that included a free buffet with sweet treats from the local bakery, Blessed Little Kitchen. The event held on Thursday, March 3, invited residents to try their updated menu.

Hand said, “We filled up quickly, in a couple of days we had our limit of 100. I took down names and emails of those we couldn’t accommodate this time. I am hoping to do this again soon for the residents we couldn’t fit in.”

Residents who attended were not only treated to the sampling of the new items featured on the menu, but they also received a coupon for 25% off for the next visit to the pub during lunch.

Kathy Wendhack, attending with her husband, Kurt said, “We thought Pub 47 was a fun place to be. The food we had was great. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The manager was super nice, and we enjoyed the ambiance of the place. Who could ask for more.”

Carol Swanson, another sun city resident agreed, “Yes, the food was great and the staff super friendly. Nice spot to have some spirits and food.”

Hand has a strong background in catering, as an executive chef and restaurant manager.

Hand said, “I started working at a restaurant as a busboy when I was 15 at Baker’s Square. I continued working in the industry and several familiar restaurants like Maggiano’s and got an education in the culinary arts.”

What are some of the new menu items?

Hand said, “Chicken pesto penne, chicken marsala, and salmon with lemon and herb. I am also incorporating my barbeque items.”

How did he create their signature barbeque sauce?

Hand said, “I used the time I took off during Covid to homeschool my daughter to develop and test a recipe for barbeque sauce. My neighbors would smell the cooking and readily agreed to test ribs or whatever was on the grill.”

Pub 47 is staffed and is open now six days a week, closed on Monday.

Does Hand have any other new plans for the club?

Hand said, “We are pairing some craft beers and wines with some of the treats from the Blessed Little Kitchen. We are getting our craft beers from local breweries as Sew Hop’d. We will also be offering free delivery of our full menu to Sew Hop’d. There is a QR code that can be scanned in the taproom and we will deliver the meal too for free.”

Are any other events planned?

Hand said, “We are looking at holding some cooking events for kids and adults, a visiting chef, paint and sip classes, beer tasting, as well as holding private events. We have a private dining room that holds 30 and can close the restaurant for private events that can accommodate up to 150. We can deliver for Sun City neighborhood picnics, hold club events, and hope to have some neighborhoods try us for dinner for eight.”
