Russ Becker has been featured for his iconic reconstruction of buildings made with pennies. The responses he received from the articles have encouraged him to keep on building.
Russ said, “I constructed the Leaning Tower of Pisa. I started on October 22, 2022, and finished on March 10, 2023.”
The structure took 7837 pennies to build. It weighs 48 pounds and 15 ounces. It is 444 pennies high, boasting a spiral staircase that took 270 pennies to build. The tower has 156 columns with a bell tower that has 7 bells that took 982 pennies.
“I decided to try something else than a building and the result of 5842 pennies put together is the Golden Gate Bridge. I started that on September 21, 2022, and completed it on October 26, 2022. It weighs 36 pounds and 8 ounces.”
The pennies for the two structures total $136.79, but their artistic worth is priceless.
