Sun City’s Tall Oaks Tennis Charter Club members continued their supported The Rotary Club of Huntley’s second ā€œRunning of the Elvesā€ on Saturday, December 2, in downtown Huntley.

The race benefited the Huntley community and Scholarships for Huntley Students. The Very Merry Huntley event was held downtown with a farmer’s market, craft fair, cookie walk, carols, and many other activities. Over 30 members of the Tennis Club joined.

In the one-mile walk, two tennis members crossed the finished line simultaneously, Duane Fontana and Judy Hill, with times, respectively, 12:23.5 and 12:23.8.

Kids and grandchildren attended the event, enjoying the exercise and some the challenge along with their Sun City tennis members.

Judy Dill, a Sun City resident, had a grandson who won the 5k run in the event. Miles Dill came in first in the 5k age group event at 20:46.6.

Dill said, “Miles is 14 years old and is a member of the Elgin Sharks running club. He practices every night from 4:30 to 6 and runs cross country and track for Wredling Middle School in St. Charles. He competed in the Nationals in North Carolina in November. Miles got his name with a connection to running. His mom, Jaymi, and his dad, Mike, were in running clubs, and that’s how they met. They got married, and when Miles was born, they decided Miles was the perfect name for him since they had both run many miles together.
