Sun City Theatre Co. brings back a popular play

Back by popular demand, The Theatre Company of Sun City is thrilled to present Sex Please, We’re Sixty.

Dick Storer, Sun City resident, said, “This production was a complete sell-out in 2013, and we can’t wait to bring it back to our stage.”

Sex Please We’re Sixty was first produced by Play With Your Food Productions in Hemet, California, on October 17, 2008. Since then, it has had nearly 300 productions throughout the US, Canada, and worldwide.

Dick Storer said, “In 2013, we had residents that attended the production twice. I played Henry Mitchell, a retired chemist, and I am cast in that part again.”

Diane Scott is the assistant director for the 2025 production. “In 2013, I played Victoria Ambrose, a romance novelist whose personal life seems to be lacking in romance. As performers, we would have to stop and giggle during rehearsal.”

Kevin Fenner is the Director for the fun production in 2025.

Storer said, “It is the funniest show I have ever had a part in.”

Scott acknowledges the producer, Judy Stage, for her unwavering commitment. “Judy keeps everything together. We are truly fortunate to have her leading our team.”

Scott, who creates all the costumes for the production, shares her joy in the process.

“It’s a lot of hard work, but I have a great time and take immense pleasure in making them,” she said.

The play features six main characters. In addition to Henry and Victoria, this time played by Joyce Mueller, there is the prim and proper Mrs. Stancliffe, played by Kathy Allen; Burt Natkins plays Bud the Stud; Hillary Hudson’s role by Debi Sieckman, and Janet Graf as Charmaine Beauregard, a Southern belle.

Rehearsals have begun for the performances on July 16, 17, and 18, all at 7 p.m. Ticket sales will take place on the following dates and times: June 24, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Drendel Ballroom, and July 1 and July 8, 12-4 p.m. in the Cedar Room. Seating is assigned.

If you are unable to snag tickets for this production, the theatre company’s next show, ‘The Addams Family,’ is sure to be a sellout.
