Joseph Ortega is someone who enjoys putting together jigsaw puzzles, especially those with over 1000 pieces.
“I wake up at 2 a.m., and I start to work on the puzzle. I hurt my back and it’s hard to sleep. I like keeping busy, and working on the puzzle gives me satisfaction in the challenge and the process of seeing the picture come together piece by piece,” he said.

Ortega recently completed a special puzzle, a feat that took him five weeks of dedicated effort. He had it framed as a token of appreciation for someone he deeply values.
“It’s a thank you for the kindness she has shown me,” he said of his friend. “She’s a generous person. I want to show my appreciation for what she does.”
The gift is a stunning framed picture of a cross with flowers, created with a beautiful stained-glass style effect.
The recipient of the puzzle was JoAnn Ginoza. Ortega and Ginoza are members of the Canasta Club, a group of friends who share a love for the game and often gather to play and socialize. They joined others in playing the game on Tuesday, July 1. Ortega presented the framed puzzle to Ginoza.
Ginoza’s response was emotional.
“It touched my heart. Joe is a wonderful guy, and this generous gesture is unexpected. I will always cherish this and think of this special moment.” Ortega, too, was deeply moved by Ginoza’s reaction, feeling a sense of fulfillment and joy in his act of kindness.
