Spooky season gets a head start

With Halloween candy already on the shelves, it’s also time for the highly anticipated Halloween Bash in Sun City. The Grandma, Grandpa, and Me (GG&Me) Charter Club, Model Train Club, and the RV Club are preparing for a unique and thrilling event on Sunday, October 26. This event is for everyone, regardless of age. There will be games, crafts, and entertainment. Everyone can come in costume.

Pam Mosier, president of GG&Me, said, “The party starts in Drendel Hall at 1 p.m. This event is also a fundraiser for the GG&Me club, raising money for the other events held throughout the year, which are offered at no cost or at a low price to the club’s membership.”

To be part of this GG&Me Halloween exciting experience, all you need to do is become a club member and register. Membership and registration forms are available on the club’s website.

Mosier said, “The cost is $7 per person for those two years and older, including adults. Parents are also invited to attend with their children. If grandchildren over 12 are interested in helping with crafts or games, we would love to have them join in. Just contact me and we will slot them in to help.”

Following the GG&Me event, there will be a Trunk or Treat experience. Last year, the RV Club of Sun City coordinated a Trunk or Treat. Cars were decorated and residents dressed in costume to greet trick-or-treaters. This year the event is at the Prairie Lodge parking lot.

Ben Manibog, President of the RV, invites neighborhoods and Clubs to participate. Still, space is limited. Manibog said, “To reserve a spot for your neighborhood or Charter Club, please email me at rvtosch@gmail.com. The event will run from 2:45 to 5 p.m. or until the candy is gone.”

Only one trunk per neighborhood or charter club. Participants should be prepared for an estimated 500-plus trunk-or-treaters. There are only 25 trunk spaces available, of which eight spaces are designated Golf Cart only.

Manibog advises Sun City, “First come, first served.”

Nedra Reeves, GG&Me cecretary, adds, “For those who can’t get enough of the Halloween spirit, the Model Railroad Club is extending the festivities with their Twilight Train event from 2-6 p.m. It’s a perfect opportunity to continue the fun after the Halloween Bash and keep the Halloween spirit alive.”

Dale Svoboda, president of the Model Railroad Club, said, “The Train Club feels honored to have partnered up with GG&Me and the RV Traveler Club Treat and Trunk event. The Train Club team is working very hard to complement all the hard work and effort put forth by Pam, Ben, and their respective clubs. With that being said, I believe all the attendees will hopefully be pleased with our new SPOOKY Twilight event.”

Mosier said, “Anyone interested in joining the GG&Me club, or needs more information on our event, please feel free to contact me at trek.1180@gmail.com or call me at 630-674-2477.”

Trick or Treat is also held from 3-5 p.m. at Del Webb homes with their porch lights on.
