About 12 years ago, Sun City’s Neighborhoods 27 and 28 were designed and built out. That design included construction off a large flood-control detention pond located behind homes along Windsor Drive.

The Corrections

It was a routine day at the Joliet Correctional Center reception area one day in 1980. David Grant was a sergeant involved in prisoner intake.

One of the most notorious and infamous serial killers in the nation’s history entered the facility. He had just been convicted and sentenced to death for killing 33 young boys over a span of a decade. His name was John Wayne Gacy. He was well known to Grant and other corrections officials at Joliet that day. Grant, a resident of Sun City since 2012, tells it this way.

McHenry County Visitors Bureau moves to Huntley

In order to expand its visibility in the northwest suburbs, the McHenry County Visitors Bureau has chosen to come to Huntley.

Census to take place in Sun City this year

When the first active-adult community opened in Arizona in 1960, a new housing concept was born. The facilities were offered exclusively to persons aged 55 years and over. Many of them, like Sun City in Huntley, provided activities and services specifically designed for seniors.
