For several hours a week, I work at the Huntley Library re-shelving items. During this process, opportunity presents itself for me to peruse materials I’d not see while looking on my own. Very often I say to myself, oh, that looks interesting … and then I keep it or jot down the info. I’ll share some with you that pique my interest.

Art in My Secret Garden

Waterfall repair project underway

Three of the biggest reasons why Sun City is such an attractive place are the three waterfall features that decorate the landscape.

One is at the Del Webb Boulevard entrance to the community on Route 47. Another is a small one next to the pond in front of the Prairie Lodge pavilion. It is visible as residents drive by on Del Webb Boulevard.

Veterans Memorial nears completion, dedication planned

The Huntley Area Veterans Memorial is nearly complete and a dedication ceremony is planned for Saturday, July 2 at 12 p.m. in the town square.

Wildflower Lake shoreline erosion repairs being discussed

There are two ways to take care of the Wildflower Lake shoreline in Sun City.

One of them is to prevent erosion by installing rocks or other hard material at the water’s edge. The other is to make the shoreline accessible and safe for persons of all ages so they can enjoy fishing and walking along the shoreline.

In an effort to assist people with physical limitations in developing countries, a local Hampshire, IL teenager, Sarah Carr, is collecting used orthotic braces used to treat scoliosis.
