A renewed interest in the nests of autumn

This splendid autumn of ours can last only so long, and before you know it, snowbirds of every feather will be heading south. The hummingbirds dashed off a couple weeks ago, and the robins will start making their reservations soon.

Fashion forwards a worthy cause

Autumn has arrived with its visions of brightly colored leaves, sun-drenched pumpkins, and early morning fog. At Sun City, this crisp-weathered season means an annual showing of fall/winter fashions in Drendel Ballroom. On display yearly are cooler weather trends in fabrics, colors, and styles of clothing for the fashion-con¬scious mature woman shopper.

From Rags to witches

There’s something about this time of year that I find it hard to tell the truth … at least in my writing. For me, fall produces creativity. Maybe because it’s a romantic time of year and so much fiction (no matter genre) is the romanticizing of something or maybe because I write in a near-horror genre and with fall comes Halloween, dark skies, and empty trees.

Pumpkin power

‘Tis the season of autumn and time to celebrate the amazingly versatile and incredibly healthy squash fruit/vegetable known as the pumpkin. Introduced to the pilgrims by Native American Indians, the pumpkin was documented as having been served during the second Thanksgiving meal.

The Costco experience

Secure patio doors and keep garage doors running smoothly

The sliding glass door on many Sun City homes are not as secure as they appear to be. They ride on wheels that roll in the bottom track. To install them, they lift the door up into the upper track, rotate it into the lower track, and lower it down until the wheels contact the track. While this works well for installing the doors, it also allows unauthorized people to lift the door out and enter your home.
