Happy 99!

By Richard Brooke

On Friday, September 30, at Alden Estates in Huntley, many celebrated a brave, smiling, Senior and veteran: Sgt Paul “super” Souchek, a former Sun City resident who became 99 years old. His daughter, Linda’s birthday was the same day, but Paul “stole the show” with his laughter and remembrances of his World War II years. He was honored not only by the Alden staff, residents, family and friends with cupcakes, singing and cards, but by an honor guard from the Huntley American Legion. They presented him with a flag and citation to recognize his bravery and service to this country. The Huntley police also stopped by to celebrate with him. It is estimated that he received over 1000 cards from 14 states.
