Sun City resident’s book successfully launches

SUN CITY – Sun City resident Frank Ardito worked with the Chicago Commission on Youth Welfare, where he became involved in many of the leading social issues in Chicago.

Ardito said, “During the sixties, the United States battled with controversy over the Vietnam War, cultural values, and race. The country was polarized. It was a difficult time in our history.”

Ardito believes that the situation isn’t that unfamiliar for today’s audience.

Ardito said, “It is very similar. Our city was bathed in violence. We did not have as many guns out there in the streets as it is now. There was physical fighting and rioting.”

Ardito writes about his experiences during this turbulent time in his book, Street-Level Disciple.

Ardito said, “One part of my book is about some of the turbulence and unrest in our country and my work in the streets, dealing with street gang violence, race discrimination, conflict, poverty, riots, and near riots. I wanted to go out there and see what I could do.”

What were some of the obstacles he faced?

Ardito said, “I was discouraged by inadequacies in our system. For example, a parole officer could not possibly help everyone that was assigned, everyone knew it was an impossible job. I kept trying to bring issues to light, only to find out that they were fully aware of them, but there was nothing that could be done about it.”

What does Frank hope readers will gain from reading your book?

Ardito said, “I hope that readers of the book will see all of this as an opportunity to bring our faith to all the situations we encounter in our daily life. Not one of us alone can resolve all these problems, but by trying to bring Christ’s love and presence to our brothers and sisters in our communities and world, we can make a difference. I am available to discuss my book and my experiences with any group.”

Ardito’s book is available at Barnes and Noble and Amazon. Ardito would like to discuss his work and book at any group gathering. He encourages Sun City clubs, neighborhoods, and book clubs to contact him to schedule a presentation or discussion at ardito13024@comcast.net or 847-659-8119.
