Did you come to the Huntley Fall Fest the weekend of September 25 through the 27? It was absolutely terrific – the weather was perfect, the entertainment great; all-in-all a huge success.

Labor Day defined

We all think of it as just another holiday – a day off from work and the end of summer. But what is Labor Day really? Why do we celebrate it? How did it become a Federal holiday? Well you can “google” it, as I did, but if you don’t want to bother, here are some facts.

Radiothon 2: A huge success

We made our goal of $10,000! If you were at Huntley Radio’s Radiothon event on Friday and Saturday, July 31 through August 1, you know how great it was.

Radiothon: it’s back and better than ever

What’s “Radiothon” you might ask? It’s Huntley Community Radio’s Second Annual 24 Hour very, very Special Event and the whole community is invited. It starts tomorrow, July 31 at 6 p.m. and will continue straight through the nite, ending at 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 1.

Huntley’s Memorial Day Parade is Monday, May 25 and Huntley Radio is going to be in it. On our float will be some of your favorite radio stars, some of our staff, and some of our dedicated volunteers. What am I saying? We’re all volunteers.

Your Community Radio Station has been broadcasting on 101.5 FM for nearly six months, and we’re getting busier and busier. By May, we’ll have 44 shows and more to come. And that’s great…but while there’s a lot to do, we just don’t have enough volunteers to get some of the jobs done.

How Sun City residents help us remember 9-11

Sept. 11, 2001, happened 13 years ago. It was something I’ll never forget, but it was 13 years ago and we do tend not to remember. Well that was exactly what Sun City residents, Margaret (Peg) Mulhall, Linda Bahwell, and Catherine Portera will not let happen. On Sept. 11, 2011, they created the first 9-11 American Flag Memorial event with help from friends.

We’re just waiting for approval by the Village of Huntley to lease space on top of the water tower at Haligus and Kreutzer for the installation of the FM antenna and transmitter.

But we’re not waiting, we’re moving forward. We finished the engineering studies that the Village needed, and we’re waiting for a rental lease from the Village for space for our antenna to be installed on the water tower at Kreutzer and Haligus and the transmitter to be on the base of the tower.
