This year marks the 15th anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, and Sun City will honor each of the 2,976 victims with the placement of one American flag as part of its 9/11 Memorial. Following is the program agenda.

A Huntley resident stated that he received a phone call from a person claiming he was with the IRS. The resident stated the caller wanted him to pay $2,985 using iTunes cards, by sending six different iTunes cards of $500 denominations. The Huntley resident hung up on the caller prior to obtaining an address of where the cards were to be mailed.

It’s been quiet around the Fountainview Amphitheater lately, but all that’s about to end when Sun City’s own classic rock band, OLD’S COOL, takes the stage next Thursday, August 4, from 6-7:30 pm.

On Friday, June 24, crews installed the highly anticipat- ed granite slabs, making up the new Veterans Memorial in Dahmer Square.

Art in a gallery surrounded by a beautiful garden. What an enjoyable way to view art. Art in My Secret Garden’s seventh annual event will be held by the Pencil and Palette Club of Sun City on July 16 and 17 from 12-4 p.m.
The Huntley Area Veterans Memorial is nearly complete and a dedication ceremony is planned for Saturday, July 2 at 12 p.m. in the town square.
In an effort to assist people with physical limitations in developing countries, a local Hampshire, IL teenager, Sarah Carr, is collecting used orthotic braces used to treat scoliosis.
The turnout was good Saturday for this year’s first Outdoor Huntley’s Farmers Market returned to its traditional Dhamer Square venue.
The garden is in bloom, the robin chicks are out of the nest, and the Cubs and Sox are still winning — but you can’t really call it summer until Sun City’s favorite party and dance band, OLD’S COOL, hits the stage.

Calling all Del Webb residents with a passion for reading and children! Several of the District 158 Schools will be hosting Battle of the Books during May and many community volunteers are needed.
At 11 a.m. on April 3, The Theatre Company of Sun City aired its first radio play on 101.5 FM, Huntley Community Radio. Its new half-hour program is called Vintage Voices. Myron Shellist, the charter club’s president since 2009, knew that members would respond well to the radio opportunity.

The Huntley Area Veterans Foundation goal of a Veterans Memorial is nearly complete.
Changes have been made in the State of Illinois as to which electronic items must be recycled and which items can now be thrown away with your household garbage.
