Main street bridge re-opens, new traffic signals

The McHenry County Division of Transportation is pleased to announce the bridge rehabilitation work is complete and Main Street has been re-opened to traffic.

Huntley volunteers intend to raise money to build veterans memorial and park

Dawn Ellison, a born and raised Huntley community member, has had family in the military all her life. From her uncles fighting in World War II to her great-grandfather serving during the Civil War, Ellison has always had respect for the armed forces.

FSR to continue managing Sun City’s activities, property

First Service Residential has managed Sun City’s activities and property for seven years. They will continue to do it for five more.

The positive side of hope

For much of the past year, the Sun City board of directors has been discussing and studying what to do about ash trees that are or may become infected by the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) predator. The discussion has ended. The bottom line board decision is to continue with a two-part program of removal and selective replacement, and treatment, with a long-term goal of saving the species and avoiding its eradication.

Newly-formed marketing committee reviews options for Sun City’s future populace

SUN CITY – It’s year 15 in Sun City’s history in Huntley. All 5,400 original homes have been sold and hundreds of them have changed owners since, some more than once. The famous Sun City lifestyle was marketed skillfully by Del Webb and later by Pulte Homes. The build-out of original homes and lots was robust until 2008, when it was slowed only by a nationwide housing recession.

Gibs is a 15 lb, wire-haired terrier mix who is mostly white with-tan-and black spots. He was adopted out from Animal House Shelter in Huntley on Monday, April 21 and ran from his adopters’ home, located near the intersection of Sun City Blvd and Countryside Blvd in Del Webb, on that day around 4 p.m.

Amtrak stop coming to Huntley for restored Chicago-Rockford line

Amtrak service between Rockford and Chicago – last available in 1981 – is set to return with Huntley marked as a stop along the route.
